Are all daks made in the dearborne michigan plant? Just wondering I jsut had my '03 CC 4wd ship late Wednesday and I am trying to estimate the shipping time to NE CT.
The dealer seemed to think they were made in New Mexico...

If you can get the VIN, I can tell you the railcar # and location. I helped write the program that keeps track of all the VINs (vehicles) we ship on our railroad.

My dealer is a pain, he does not want to give me the VIN to be able to track it on my own.. so istead I call a couple/three times a week for updates to make him check.

That's crazy, my dealer gave me the VIN before hand (once it was shipped) so that I could get my insurance lined up.

This dealer calls the insurance etc for ya, but this guy is jsut killing me right now...
I bought a jeep from him in Sept and it was a truly enjoyable experience, everything went well, agreed on price etc without problem... BUT this time he is just being a real ass since I am getting the truck for $1000 less than they wanted to sell it for, once I got up to leave they met my price of invoice - the $3000 rebate. so I got what I care about but the guy is jsut being a pain in the Butt right now!!!!!

Well-- to the best of my knowledge-- they are still made at Dodge City--- Warren, Michigan.
Exit # 69, Big Beaver road (and I am not kidding on this).
I took the tour June 2000--- Amazing.
How many people here say "My truck has never been smoked in" ???
HA--- Most of the people assembling your truck, inside and out are smoking cigars, or cigarettes... so-- that new car smell is really the glue and smoke gasing out inside your truck ;)

depends on how fast the train is loaded, how fast it travels and how fast unloaded, how long it sits in a lot before loaded on a hauler, how long the hauler takes to get to the dealer, how long the dealer takes to realize it is in, how long it takes to get the prep guy around to preping it, how long the guy takes to tell his boss "It's ready" how long the boss takes to notify the salesjerk who then will wait a while to call you, when he knows you are not home and your machine takes the message that when you got home that night you were to drunk/hi/tired to listen too till the next morning.

I also ordered a new Dakota and the sales droid ensured me that he would keep me up to date on the build date, ship date, etc. Needless to say I had to call repeatedly to get any information. My truck is supposed to ship April 1st.
On another note, how did you handle your $3,000 rebate? Since my truck will come in after the current rebate ends on 3/31/03 they tell me that I will only get the rebate *if* Dodge extends it past the end of March. I called Chrysler's program headquarters and they said I need to add the clause "Sold order protection" which would gaurantee the price and rebate, but my dealer claims the rebate is not protected. How did you handle your rebate? I expect Dodge to extend the rebates, but if they don't I will not be taking delivery of the truck without the rebate.

I was in the same boat, as it is I am sweating that the truck arrives today... For that reason.. My dealer and Dodge said the same thing that it is only if the rebate is still available when the truck is actually delivered to me... But my dealer believes the rebate will stay and may increase next month as sales are still really slow...
My truck was originally supposed to ship on the 13th of march, ehn it was delayed until the 25th.. not that my dealer called me to let me know or anything... but yeah I was in the same boat as far as the rebate goes.... Have faith it should still be available.. otehrwise my dak will be sitting on the lot as well until that rebate comes back and I can buy it...

OK I have to vent... My truck has been built and ready to ship since Wednesday Morning (26th)... As of jsut now it is still in Michigan waiting for a rail car....

Make certain to have your dealer add the clause "sold order protection" to your order. You will get the rebate (which ever month is higher). My dealer confirmed this with Dodge after I raised a fuss over it. I have also been looking at the Dodge website for an update - so far nothing. It is the end of the quarter so who knows what they will do.

My dealer will not add that clause, I asked for something like that when I ordered the truck. However the dealer is aware that if there is no rebate there is no sale!!!
Hopefully (my dealer seems to agree) that it will remain the same rebate this month...

Chris, it is really sad that the dealers offer such poor support. I just checked and Dodge did extend the $3k rebates on the Dakota through April. I have found it is most effective to resolve issues with the dealer directly through Chrysler.

This is the LAST time I buy a vehicle from Disch Motorgroup in Lisbon, CT.... The first buy was very easy and this special order has been a PAIN IN MY (you know the rest)... So once the truck comes in and I get the keys they will never see that truck again unless they drive by my house!!!!!!

Sorry Sam, exit 69 is Big beaver aka 16 mile and it is in Troy, MI. Dodge city as you have stated is in Warren, MI. The plant is on Mound RD. near 8 mile. The railyard is on 17 mile near Van Dyke. The old conrail yard.

I ordered my 03 RT CC in early December.
The scheduled arrival date was Feb 13. It
finally came last friday to Cerritos Dodge in S.
kali on March 28. It had 81 miles on it straight
from the factory. They also said that it was in
the body shop for damage of some sort. I went
to take a look and take it for a drive. Its an
awesome truck, but I put another one on
order. They say that its supposed to arrive mid
April. Hopefully they get this one right. How the
hell can a truck straight from the factory have
81 miles on it? If any one has had any similar
experiences, post them and let me know.

Hay , 03 RT CC , my 03 cc 4X4 came with 9 miles on the odo ,I let the Westoaks Dealer know I was not very pleased . Also they very thoughtfully preset most of my radio stations to spanish ranchera music , or do they come from the factory like that . You did the right thing by making them order you a new one .I think because mine was the only CC 4X4 with the 4.7 ,5 speed auto some of the employees wanted to test drive it ,I just happen to show up at the dealer and there it was . Oh we where just going to call you ! Yeah right . Keep a eye on these guys .

My 200 was in the body shop after being rear-ended in January and the bodyshop found some old damage on the cab. i ordered the truck and had it in 4 weeks, there was never any damage to the cab while I owned it so it must have happened at the factory.

i live 10 mins from where they asemble daks. who ever said they miss michigan, i want to know why. there isnt a good or decent car parts store, performance shop, custom body shop anywhere around here. i dont know why they call it the motor city i have to get all my stuff off the web from california. just venting HAND JOB
