OK....silly question maybe.....
What is the difference between a Dodge 3.9 and a Jeep 4.0? I know they are both made by Dodge. Are there any parts off the Jeep 4.0 that can be used on the 3.9 for more performance or power? I am just curious and if anyone can help...let us know.

I may be mistaken, but I think the Jeep 4.0 is a strait 6 verus the Dodge V6. I also think the jeep 4.0 in an highly updated version of the old 240ci strait 6 jeep has had for years. Again i might be wrong. I am sure sombody will know the answer to your question , I wouldn;t think there are many interchangable parts. The 2003 Jeep Liberty does have a 3.7 V6 that makes 220hp (i think). That is the V6 slated to go in the 2004 Dak

The 3.9 is a V6 and the 4.0 is a strait 6. Believe
it or not the 4.0 is the old AMC 258. Plus AMC's
258 (4.0) was also used by International Pick Ups
for years. I would not be supprised if the 4.0 was even built by International in the first place. The 4.0 is a real work horse! There are two versions. The high output version has high dome pistons among other goodies for added horse power.

RadioMan, you're a moron 6 times over. The 4.0 (243cid) IS NOT THE OLD 258 (4.2). They share no common parts. Is the new Hemi the same as the old Hemi because they are both V-8's? No. The 4.2 and 4.0 just happen to both be inline (STRAI_GH_T) 6's. The 4.2 was a carburetted ring eating oil bucket and the 4.0 is a SMPFI ring eating oil bucket. The difference in the 4.0 and the 4.0 HO is in the head, not the pistons.

Get a clue ya dumb jackass.

Renault didn't put AMC out of business. AMC was bought by Chrysler Corporation in 1987 which in turn was bought by DaimlerBenz 10 years later. Renault is still going strong, thank you vey much.

AMC built sh1tty, ugly cars. They might be novel today but at the time they were the junk. DaimlerChryslers entire midsize car lineup is ripped off from the Eagle Premier which is a Renault design. Renault design and engineering saved Chrysler and it certainly didn't sink AMC.

Moronic assclown.
