look, i dont wanna b*tch or nothing, but too many fellow dak owners post questions like loudest or best muffler/catback. most aftermarket systems are designed to be loud and u prolly couldnt tell the difference between spintech, gibson, dynomax, edelbrock, flowmaster etc. its all just a name! just dont get a 15 dollar glass pack lol. my 2 cents

There is a very noticable difference in sound. Most people don't have the luxury of knowing what they each sound like. I agree, the post on loudness is a bit absurd. I mean, it's called no muffler if you want loud. For the most part, 95% of the exhaust questions can be answered by using the search.

You are incorrect though, it's not all in just a name. Build quality is also another factor. Not as much for us, but I guess on my RX-7, it will just destory Flowmasters and glass packs. Only the nice thick steel or stainless can stand up to them.

It can't happen...I've tried. If you sit in the dark for 6 days, and mumble to yourself, "My 3.9 sounds like a 5.9", without stopping, you might be able to convince yourself that it does.

I had a 98 with the 3.9 I had a problem with the cat so I decided to put a cat-back on it. I Went to napa and bought a thrush turbo muffler for something like $30 and had a local shop run the pipes. I personally thought it sounded real good, but thats just my opinion. My neighbor said he heard me pull in and thought it was a new truck.(by the sound) everyone said it sounded pretty good.

I like how we have more exhaust posts than anything else when that's one of the most effecient systems on the Dakota. How 'bout we move to intake manifolds.

I agree with all of u!! TOO MANY POSTS ON EXHAUST.....however....i'd like to contribute my 2 cent worth lol. I had a new cat-back put on and it drowns out my stereo! Besides I drive a 450 horsepower diesel for a living, think I want to go back to a quiet pick-em-up truck. The thing with making a 6 sounds like an 8...not possible. Even with no cat no muffler, it just sounds like an incredibly loud 6. Been there. Have fun everyone!
