Message:
I have a '01 Dakota QC and would like to put fog lights on it. I talked to the dealer and after some looking on their part said they will not be available until August-September. Does anyone know another way to get foglights on my truck without butchering the factory wiring?
Also, there was a post about yanking the intake "horn" to solve the 4.7 idle problem. I pulled my horn out about 1/2" and my truck idles much better now.

Thanks

Fog lights would be pretty simple to put in. Since
the cutouts are already there, you could probably
get them opened up and look good. I'm pretty sure
the fog lights on the regular dakotas are the same
size, so you can buy the assembly and put it in.
The wiring should be the easy part and most likely
wouldn't have to "butcher" the factory wiring. You
can buy tap ins that just clip in to existing
wiring and you wouldn't be actually cutting the
wiring in two. It looks and works good. I put in a
keyless remote, keyless starter, and an alarm
using them and the taps work fine. Something that
is a pain though is getting the wires from the
engine compartment into the cab to hook the switch
up. Good luck.

Tony

Vehiclelighting.com has some pretty nice fog lights that would fit the Dakota. Im thinking of replacing the stock ones. They can handle a H3 bulb which you can get in superwhite, instead of that 899 bulb.

I know some dak owners have put the PIAA 510's on in place of the factory lights. I believe PIAA even makes a mounting bracket for the lights to fit on daks. As Tony said, wiring should not be a problem.
