Let me get this straight, on an auto, if you hit the Od button, you hear the exhaust tone better? And you're not supposed to use it though, at least not at 'high speeds' anyway, right?

Glad I ain't got one! auto that is.

Aaorn, what a freakin load crap! I'm sure your cousin single-handedly pressing the button screwed up your tranny. What do you think that button is for? Well I'll tell you. When your climbing a grade, or towing a boat (both at high speed) and the truck keeps shifting back and forth. Or you can't get enough acceleration in OD, YOU HIT THE BUTTON. Sometimes often. Dude, quit blaming your cousin!

It's a lock up torque converter(possably the worst idea ever in my opinion). If you are hauling or towing you should turn o.d. off before you get into o.d.Idealy before you put the truck in gear or if it keeps shifting out of o.d. hit the button when it's already out.Not a good idea to just hit the button and turn it off at 45mph with your foot steady on the gas.like my friends loved to do.It rarely shifts out of o.d. when you are "light",unless you put your foot into it.So,there is no need to play with that damn button anyway. Not only the ware and tare bothered me,but, who was buying all the gas?Yep,me.

Joe,the button isn't ment to shift the trany, but to keep it from shifting back up.If you don't know when and how to use it you are asking for trouble.Use your foot to shift down then hit the button. That's not what they did. They used the button to shift down.I know what the book says, but,I know it's not good to use the button to down shift. You are right, may be that it wasn't my cousin.I tell you what though,I was in the truck when he hit the button and there wasn't a good sound or feeling with the truck when it shifted. The bucking started the next day so,it was at least helped along by hitting the od button.

WOW.... I swear to God that line's taken from a
country song!

Anyway, FWIW I'm not buying the OD button
abuse thing. A torque converter locks and
unlocks thousands of times in it's life.

It's widely know Chysler has put more than an
acceptable amount of bad transmissions in
everything from mini vans to trucks.

My advice, don't put dual exhaust on your truck,
and if you do, PLEASE keep your cousins
away from the OD button.

I have to admit one thing. Dodge should have never put that button on the dash. Too many kids think that it's a *turbo booster*...lol. I will never one of my friends drive my truck agian because of that button.

I wonder why autos don't down shift at 3000rpm?It would help save your breaks.Obviously it's not good to stress things the other way.I'll bet you,you wouldn't keep steady on the gas and use the button to shift out of od.Anyway i was just trying to point out the trouble started immediatly after something stupid was done with the truck.Maybe you guys are right, the trany is a piece of $h!t.I appreciat your useful input, thanks!

Second of all I think Sean's problem is all too common with the Dodge. And to suggest he's sniveling because he's putting $1,000 into his truck? WHO WOULDN"T!!!!!!!!!!!!!
