Hey, been lookin to dump my 89 350 chev for a 3.9 dakota. I know i know, get the v8, but i want the 3.9 for better gas mileage.
ANYWAYS....found this
2000 Dakota Sport 3.9 auto standard cab short box
Its got 27k miles 1 owner
Its the copper metallic orange color
It has a rhyno liner, allow wheels, a reciever hitch the 3.55 8.5 rear end. 2WD
AC, tilt, sliding rear window, Infinity CD, and the over head console.
Think $8,995.00 is a good deal? Sounds like a heck of a deal to me. Will be my daily driver, and ocasionally tow my race neon on a dolly to the track.
Oh yea, neon runs 14.34 at 96.8 with just boltons on street tires. Gonna be a 12 sec NA neon this summer!

Sounds like a decent deal, but the V6 doesn't get much better mileage then the V8!! The 3.9 will easily handle a Neon on a dolly though....

Anyone else??

Just had the vin ran, and talked to the dealer, they said it had a crankshaft seal and cooling fan fixed, they said not a big deal.
Crankshaft leak at 27k miles? Hrmmmm
Waiting to get approved for the loan.
LET ME KNOW!!!

So many people on here say the V6 doesn't get better gas mileage than a V8, but I disagree. I get 18 sometimes 19 mpg in my 01 QC V6 and I have yet to hear anyone on here with a V8 say that.

OH yea bama,

My QC 4.7 gets 18-20 every tank. Thats mis hwy/traffic, city! That's real numbers, no computer BS.

Same MPG, but a hell of alot more tq, HP, etc.

v6's stock, or slighlty moded are NOT worTh it.

Unless its all you got, then OK. But to knowingly have a choice, and choose a v6, and in a QC? LOL

Hwy only 22+, going fast, pulling gear, people, in comfort, etc.

Theres a link to the truck, exept he dropped the price to 8995.
Grrr so much stress why!!!!???
Proabably because I have an Chev PU, 75 vette, and a neon. I dont NEEED another truck, but my Chev is getting old. 205,000 miles on a 89 350 4x4...11mpg!! Time to move on!

My 95 CC 4X4 with the 3.9 V6 gets 16.5 mpg. I run 120 mile round trip to work on country roads, no stopping/going just cruising up and down the hills of Ky. If your looking for mileage a Dakota probably isn't the best but I bought mine because my full size '81 GMC was only getting 11 mpg and it wasn't a 4X4!!
I love my Dak. It's the older Gen II style and if I could afford a newer body style I would but I am VERY happy with my truck....I just don't race anyone!!! ;-)

dude I'd try to get him down to a flat 8k .. this truck doesn't have any appeal to an average person that want's a TRUCK. No 4x4, no club cab/quad, and a v6 .. it's basically a fleet truck so it will be very hard for you to get rid of. You don't own the truck so don't take offense to what I'm saying bro, hell man there's a wicked 99 black cc 4x4 with 60k miles for sale locally here for 10,500 .. it's got the v6 but still it has a ton of resale appeal.

I am glad you get that Mileage Texas Todd, you are the first I've heard on here. Most of the guys on here with 8's say they are getting 13 - 14. Mine is also combo driving, and real mileage. I check it virtually every tank. I don't know what kind of terrain you drive on, but up here in Mid-north AL I have to drive up and down hills all day. I may as well be in Tennesee with the Smokies!! Sure it gets old, but you don't have to put me down because I have a 6 cyl! I like my truck, I just bought it in Dec and it is a nice step up from my 94 Ranger with a 3.0L.

OK, looks like im buying it, I got approved for the loan. I am picking up the truck tomorrow at 9am.
He wont budge on the price, and thats fine I guess, it seems like a great deal, yea its not a ideal "Truck" but it works for me.
Now locally here I found 4 other Dakotas that are VERY SIMILAR to compare, and this fire amber 00 looks to be the best deal, and LOOKS SWEET IMO

Others to compare to:

-99 white Sport V6 auto 2wd standard cab
71065 miles for $8900

-98 white Sport V6 auto 2wd standard cab
50650 miles for $8990

-00 red Sport V6 manual 2wd standard cab
51536 miles for $8700

-99 green Sport V6 auto 2wd extended cab
50000 miles for $10,800

:now the one im buying

-00 Fire Amber Sport V6 auto 2wd standard cab
(the kicker) ONLY 27,600 miles for $8995
and reasonably equipped.

Well, seems like the best deal outta the bunch, maybe these would be cheaper in other places, and maybe the 4x4s arenot as expensive, BUT I DO live in Minnesota, 4x4 V8s are ALOT MORE, and 4x4 Club Cabs are ALOT more, now combine the 2 and double the cost of a V6 2wd standard cab.

I suppose I should register my name now huh?
Gonna use what I do on all the other boards, ACRucrazy....so thats my new name.

Anyone else care to comment? Id really like to hear anythoughts before I pick this thing up, Right now I have an angry / worried GF and mother for buying a FOURTH (75 Vette 396, 97 ACR Neon, 89 Chev 350 4x4 and now a Dakota) vehicle, witch is understandable, considering Im 22 years old and am 1 year into my first house mortgage.
