I have made the switch - both engine and tranny. No problems. I still change the engine oil at around 3K. It's a lot more expensive, but I feel good about providing more protection for my vehicles.
Mileage should improve a little. I didn't notice any change in tranny shifting (still wierd), even though I had a tranny shop do the total change & tune-up ($$$). I have Redline in the tranny and will syn the rear end once weather warms up.
I use Mobil-1 in the engine, get it at Costco. I have the 10W30 in all my cars - even our dear old '79 VW bus!
Cars all start a LOT easier in the cold.

you can go longer w/synthetic changes w/ 100% synthetic I'd recommend 5,000 -7,000 mile oil changes, even with regular oil unless it's stop and go driving I'd go w/a 5,000 mile change..

Do it. You won't be disappointed. With Amsoil, you change every 25k mi or 12 mos and change the filter every 6 mos. Doesn't cost any more than dino oil on a year to year basis, so it's a no brainer. I even put synthetics in my lawn mower and snow blower.

I switched years ago on my '94. I has just over 90K and still going strong. I change oil every 5000-7000 miles. In addition to the engine and tranny, use it in the axels and synthetic grease in the u-joints, ball joints, etc. It may seem expensive, but it a lot cheaper that parts.
