Anyone have one or may have driven one? Thought about getting a 1500 RC shortbox 2WD (black) Hemi before I get my orders for the gulf. Carsdirect.com gave me a quote of $23000 for a base SLT Sport. Doesn't sound too bad for a HD motor in a 1/2 ton truck. Anyone have times for this truck stock?

I was quoted 19,800 for a new one at my dealership. But the salesman talked me into keeping my R/T. Just keep in mind that its still a high profile full size truck that handles like one. It does not have the suspension or wheel/tire set up like Dak R/T's. Also the weight plays a big factor. Im waiting on either a hemi-dak or waiting for Dodge to design a 1500 hemi, lowered with sport suspention and high performance wheel/tire set-up.

Any reason why you want to buy it before you go? Making a payment on a parked truck sucks. Also, 2004 might be a good year for Dodge.

I agree with Joe. Plus if you wait, it gives DC more time to work out the bugs on that new engine. I've always been told that it's best to wait a year or two when an new model comes out.

Anything slated for the Dak and the Hemi?

Oh, I would modify the suspension and probably install a KB when they fix their bugs. I would have to trade in my Vette in order to buy one so I'm still not 100% sure yet. I may just decide to wait.

wait.

you'll also be able to work a deal with New Car Sales. Since it is a domestic product, you'll be eligible for savings as a deployed fighting man.

i already had a truck, but helped some other guys get great prices on hard to get american cars. new svt cobra's under invoice.

you'll also be able to put money down once you decide and continue to add to that "money down" pot for the duration of the deployment. that way when you leave, you'll have a bigger downpayment in your favor and you've had the car reserved for the past six months.

hope this helps. check out encs.com for you army/air force guys for a little info

Dude, wait until you are deployed. Then you can purchase it through one of the great programs Chrysler offers to Navy/Marine personel and buy it at factory invoice exactly how you want it. That's how I bought my Contour SVT. Ordered it in late '98 and took delivery of and early '99 model. That, and if you're going to the Gulf, then that sucker is TAX FREE! You can even have it waiting for you at the docks when you return. All you have to do is sign and drive away.

the hemi ram 1500 2wd regular cab pulled a7.9 second 0-60 and a 15 second quarter mile. The quarter mile is impressive but the 0-60 isnt. the '97 Ram SS/T got a 7.9 0-60 but with a 16 second quarter mile and that had the 5.9. So this Hemi only seems to be good in the higher speeds.
