Subject: Tire Inflation Pressure For P265/70R16
IP: Logged

Message:
Under light or normal load, what tire pressure is everyone running on their DAK QCs with P265/70R16 tires?

I just checked and the dealer had them set at 35psi front and 41psi rear...way too much.

The manual says 30 front and 30 rear, this seems too low, soft, and would promote bad MPG.

Currently have all 4 at 35psi on my AWD DAK QC

BTW, should I be concerned that the sticker on the drive door doesn't list my tire size, only lists up to P235s.

Also, after install of ARE's LSII fiberglass tonneau cover with sport wing, what is the best tire pressure for the rear tires due to the extra 110 pounds or so?

Thanks in advance.

HAVE YOU HAD YOUR V8 TODAY!!!

Call a local tire place. They should know what pressure is correct for you truck. Also you can "chalk" your tires to get the right pressure. Put a line of chalk across the tread of you tires and drive down your block. Inspect the chalk lines. If the center section is worn off, too much air, if the outter edges are worn off, not enough air.

Hope it helps

30 psi front and rear is fine for around town driveing but if 50% or more of your driveing is done at speeds in excess of 65 mph you can add an additional 10 psi for a max presure of 40 psi frt&rr. This is what my tire inflation card says and it came with my truck. 2001 QC Dak with 16 inch wheels.

the best answer yet is this one. With the truck came a tire inflation chart that lists tire size and make of Dodge truck. 35psi works well, that is what I keep mine at. 95,000 miles, still original Goodyears RT/S's, and tread still on them. Oh yeah, rotate every 7000 miles

2002 QC 4x4 Sport Plus, 4.7L, auto, Patriot Blue, Tire & Handling group,
Heavy Duty Service group, Leer cap w/out windows, Mopar Step bars and roof rack, Rhino liner in bed and on step bars, Pace Edwards Power Tailgate lock
3.55 rear, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, all possible fluids are AMSOIL

30 is "too little" and 35 is "too much" in the front. damm dude on a day when you run more then 10 miles or so the pressure in the tire can easily vary by more then that. You sound like Baby bear in Goldilocks and the three bears. As ling as the side wall don't bulge a lot ant the pressure cold is not more then the side wall and not less then the door marker you are fine, it just depends on how you like it to ride.

I run 35 right now, 32 was fine too, rides much nicer as tires soak up small pavement cracks, etc.. Likely a little less milage thou
When towing a rather heavy 4 place (25') sled trailer, I bump them up to max as on side of tire. 44PS1, that's a little more than the recomended 41, but I had a little trouble with trailer sway and this higher pressure from 40 to 44 seemed to help a little,,,
