I am going to try this question again:

I have a 2001 QC. There is no air-bag disconnect switch since it is a manual tranny.
How do you disable the passenger-side airbag? Is there a wiring harness of some kind or even a fuse?

Also, if you have not seen my website, check it out. Lots of mods on my truck that you nay have not seen before.

Thanks,

Ayrow

I am guessing no disconnect switch because it is a QC. RC bust have one, CC do have one but I do not think it is mandated...

Anyone?

The shutoff switch is so you can put a baby seat in the front seat and not have the airbag go off, which could be fatal for a baby. If the vehicle has a back seat (a real back seat, not a jumpseat-type deal) then it doesn't have a shutoff switch because you can just put the baby seat in the back. If you're not putting a baby seat in the passenger seat, there is no real reason to shut off the airbag. I don't understand why so many childless people like to turn their pass. airbag off. Maybe it's because safety is uncool...

Rrrockhound,

Carfull in assuming as you know not what you speak of.

I have two children who ride in the back with child seats belted in.

However, this is my work vehicle now and they don't ride with me as often as they used to.

The reason I need to shut off the airbag on the passenger side is because I have a KDT mounted there (for the layman: a laptop computer which accesses my EMT information). If the airbag were to deploy in an accident, I'm afraid it would send the KDT flying even though it is mounted with a very strong mount. Nobody sits in the passenger seat anyways.

Safety is cool. Assuming is not.

Chill.

Rockhound, I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I have another reason for turnig mine off. If no one is sitting in that seat and you get in an accident, why have that bag go off and incur the added expense of replacing 2 bags. Those suckers aint cheap you know. I turn mine off when I'm alone and turn it on if I have a passenger. I always wear my seatbelt and a helmet when I'm riding. Safety is cool, but so is saving money.

POV. I got it after thinking about obvious things.

Yes, I use it.
If you see what it is I do for a living, it would make more sense.

Timberwolf, I could be wrong, but I was always under the assumption the passenger side bag would not deploy unless there was a passenger.
I thought there had to be a certain amount of weight on the seat to activate it.

Ayrow, I wasn't assuming anything about your situation. My company has a fleet of several trucks and every time I drive one, the passenger bag has been switched off. As for saving money, if I hit anything hard enough to set off the bags, I'm making sure the insurance company gets me another truck.
