i have a 94 dakota the tranny is having issues when i put it in gear it makes a whinning noise
and wont go over 40 i changed the fluid and filter it ran fine for a couple of days now it is doing it again is rebuilding the transmission hard i havent done one yet and i really dont like paying other people to do somthing i can do

Well, it's like anything else. A surgeon will tell you removing a gallbladder is a simple straightforward surgery.....if you have done it a few times before.

Rebuilding a tranny is a complex task. it requires meticulous cleanliness, and years of experience to spot problems and correct them.

the 46re will fit the same as a 42 will, they all mount up the same. The 46 is stronger but heavier. If you look around you can find a good rebuild one for $900 or so, I would have Wayne at www.apsprecision.com build one if you have the $$$, he is awesome with the dodge trannies.
