Subject: warning on APS tb's
IP: Logged

Message:
Just got off the phone with Dan Arcand (thefastman.com) regarding APS's recent decision to machine tb's for our magnums. The guy @ aps has been flooding the dak/durango forums with hype for his tb's when in fact he simply noticed how desaturated the market is and subbed out the work. So, point is stay away from the APS tb's and judging by this methodology to make a quick but I wouldn't send anything to them.

Just curious. Ok, let's say APS is subbing out the work, if it is by there spec's, then what's the problem. There's lot's of manufacturer's that sub out work and put there name on it to keep up with orders. Have you seen one of there tb's, I have, and it is a nice piece. To get the full skinny on them look on speedtweaks.net. They sell both fastman and aps t.b.

APS = Bernd's buddy--- Ripped off the design from Dan Fastman. Speedtweaks no longer sells Fastman, figure out why.

Rip off Dan... Oh I think not... In fact that is the same dribble we have heard from Dan any time another company does a stock modified TB… It would be fairer to say Dan ripped off Bruce over at F&B…. As far as the APS, It’s totally different in design with a Screwless Shaft which is far stronger than Fastman’s as well as a better 17-4 Heat Treated Stainless Steel Shaft Material... Made in our state of the art 30K foot machine facility with over 200 employees that also makes parts many other industries automotive being one of them… Not in someone’s garage like some others that shall remain nameless…

Buy the way... What exactly do you claim is the problem with the APS Throttle Body and please be quite specific in details... Other then wild unsubstantiated claims about knocking off someone else’s design.

APS Precision has every right to sell into any market they choose furthermore anyone attempting to restrain trade unfairly or with defamatory unproven allegations will be subject to review by our legal department and may be held liable for any damages caused.

I suggest you cease and desist from further inflammatory commentary

I'd also like to see proof on how the APS TB's are a knockoff of the Fastman.

Hughes Engines, Magnum Performance, Flometrics, Holley, APS, Fastman.

I can tell you who the originator of the modified factory TB's is and it's not Fastman.

BTW: SpeedTweaks does not equal APS.

Well it look's like figit is running scared. His response doesn't even make sense. I originally ordered a fastman from speedtweaks back on 3-9-02, under the name hdrt. At that time dan was out of town for awhile{so tom told me, and later so did dan} so I waited a couple of month's and became impatient. I was about to tell tom to cancel my order, when he offered to send me an APS [which was 25.00 more than the f.m.] but still charge me the f.m. price, as a show of good faith for my being so patient. I was reluctent at first, but I waited this long so what the heck. When the unit finally came I was very impressed with it's construction, and when I put it on, I was more impressed with it's performance. Thanks Tom and Bernd for your coming through. I had my doubt's but you did come through. I thought this was going to be another ,of several negative post's about S.T., but I think sooner or later S.T. will resolve their problem's. Hey s*#% happen's. Patience is a virtue, and some time it pay's.

oh no bash on ST, I've never had a problem with them .. then again I haven't ordered a single thing from them but just because of all that crap in the past doesn't mean I wont purchase from them in the future. And wayne 17-4 Heat Treated Stainless Steel Shaft Material is great but yours isn't heat treated and don't sweat me about your lawyers, I work for a high profile ad agency so don't give me crap about your lawyers reviewing this post, don't be a lamer man.

Yes, it does to a heat treated shaft so it proves that you’re totally uninformed… And proves quite dramatically that you really have no clue as to what you speak of… However with your 16 year old rants and raves… I can’t take you serious and no one else does either… PS… Please forward your contact information to me and I will gladly put in contact with our legal department…

Good luck on getting numbers from him, you'd think in his 30k foot machine facility he would have the equipment to test his work out. Head on over to his site http://www.apsprecision.com ... kind of hard to drop 275 on something that's not grounded in publicly available results.

Hell man even the gimmic airaid tb spacer and the hilarious tornado fuel saver have more content/resources supporting their crap!

Numbers will be published very soon... It’s being tested at an independent facility to avoid the next claim that our internal flow tests are biased... Will make them available to all very shortly... However it is safe to assume the flow numbers do not take a back seat to the next best TB... APS will only publish numbers generated by independent testers...

And to you figitdotcom go get your Masters in Engineering like I have before opening your trap about things you’re not even remotely qualified to comment about...

Have you guys ever seen Wayne's work, or talked to him for any length of time, I as well am in the process of getting an Engineering degree, and if you had any idea what is involved you would realise how much goes into any mechanical product. Why would you put some garage made device on your 25k truck??? seems kinda stupid to me... so go get your tornado and your T/B spacers and live in your own dilusional world, when you under stand physics and aerodynamics come back and we will all have an intellectual conversation and look at your input, not just "you ripped him off" grow up and get educated.

Truth be known APS Precision Mfg really does strive to make very good products at reasonable prices… I am proud to associate with the APS Team

hdrt2 - Glad to hear that you were pleased with your APS TB...

I tested one of the 50mm TB's from APS, and was impressed with it... Oh, but wait, I'm sorry, I must be biased...

I would definitely go with the APS TB on any boosted application... I used to have a Hughes TB and the throttle shaft was a piece of sh!t...

Later!

My return post was kinda funny don't ya think... Or don’t you have a sense of humor

PS the APS works GREAT with BOOST and NITROUS OXIDE because of the 17-4 Heat Treated Stainless Steel Shaft that doesn’t bend and distort

I mean it's fine if you can't show flow numbers and it's fine that we can't see your 30k super factory but hell man you can get a decent digital camera from ebay and post pics of your shop which must contain an electric conveyor furnace in order to heat "treat" ss ... hell man give me your address and I'll send you a crap extra digital camera that I have laying around. You know the only other person I know that brags about his 30k shop is my buddy adam who works for yota and claims the garage for himslelf.

Really, so your proof that APS Precision Shafts are not HEAT TREATED is that you don’t believe they are heat treated... Then you shoot off your trap for all to see and have absolutely no proof to the contrary... And we have already established the fact that you’re not an Engineer or Materials Expert… And you expect me or anyone here to you’re your position an ounce of credence… You’re Totally Unbelievable...
