Subject: Noone has a Temp Gauge???
IP: Logged

Message:
Ive been questioning people but noone seems to know the answer to this. i have an aftermarket autometer temp gauge that i installed. my problem is i have nowhere to put the sensor. people have told me to put the wire from the sensor into the coolant hose?? that makes no sense, the sensor has no wire on the end. ive been told that there is a part made that joins the coolant hose to the housing that is tapped for a sensor but noone seems to know where to get it. some have told me that there are drain plugs on the block that i can put it in but ive search all of this site, through the repair manuals and even looked all around my engine and didnt find one. i have absolutely no idea where i can put it, if anyone HAS one and installed it themselves and knows where they put their sensor please help me out, thanks.

I think you should put it somewhere on the coolant line LEAVING your engine.

Not sure what motor you have but on my 5.2 there is a block drain on both sides of the block.. They are 1/4 npt you have to buy a 1/4 to 3/8 transmission line adapter carefully drill it to the same diameter as the probe and cut the 3/8 end down by half, pull your block drain plug put in the adapter with pipe dope then put in the probe. Thats how I did mine....

If you have a 360 or 318 and the 2bbl M1, there is an extra port on the manifold itself for a temp sensor plug. But I owudl think the drin plugs in the block woudl be the easiest place to put it.
