My brake and ABS lights came on today and they stay on anyone know what this means if anything? When I shut the truck off and than restarted it they were both off than they both come on again

Same thing as EVERY other thread that has EVER been posted about this. Speed sensor in the rear differential. I'll bet your speedo don't work below 20mph or so.

I changed my speed sensor this morning and my brake and ABS light still comes on> So HSKR got any other brillant ideas?

Mak sure you get it installed right. You can damage the sensor by not installing it correctly. Also coudl be speed sensor in tranny.

Okay '99 Dak, after reading your problems on on the thread you started, I got another brilliant idea and beleive it is the sensor in your tranny tail shaft. As someone stated, it read the higher speeds and since your lights don't come on till around 40mph, that is probably the problem. If the lights came on when you first start and the speedo don't work till 20-30mph then it's the rear diff speed sensor.

I'm pretty sure my speedometer is working, will check it tomorrow if the lights come on again, my wife drove the truck before and said the lights weren't on so who knows. So is this sensor the only thing that causes the 2 lights to come on? And if so what's wrong with the sensors? Would this be covered under warranty? My lights came on as soon as the truck was started. Thanks
