I like the way r/t's look. but just saying that for a given price, equally equiped models, you can build a 4.7 stick with a hotchkis kit and some minor mods that will beat an r/t.... just that simple. more $$ will always mean faster.. but for $25000.00 a 4.7 will be faster and handle better.

i would have to say with the 99 rt i have BUZZ your very stupid. i havent drivin a truck that can handle as good as an rt. i have all kinds of mods to my truck but i have one that will eat your 4.7 with your 10k in it and its called the supercharger. when you little 4.7 go get a real job you can buy the rt which you always wanted that your momma couldnt afford for ya. im sorry its just how it is. so stop bad mouthin the rt with your pos 4.7 with your fake rt decails and rims. and if you want after you get a job can go buy the new lightning and ill still show you that you best go get a crotch rocket because you'll need it to get by me.

Truck Trend ( I belive) took a lightning and an Dakota RT to the track. Did 4 runs, switched drivers. Lightning won every time.

But, it does cost $20000 more and has a blower...like comparing a Camero to a Viper.

In the VERY LAST issue of MOPAR NOW!, A stock 4.7 Dakota reg cab 2wd ran against a stock Dakota RT at the track. Sorry, but the 4.7 beat the RT, it weighs 500lb less was the reason given.
Both magazines currently in my possession

Maybe this is why I see a lot of RT's For sale.

Dont get me wrong, a year in a dodge is better than a day in a ford anytime...

good arguements never die!
anyway, in the slalom test, the r/t's lowered stance limited slip will smoke any 4.7, and sounds better too, but not only that, it out performs the over heighted and grossly over weighted lightning in the same test. pound for pound, the lightning may be faster in a straight line, but only in that. run them side by side on a road course, or on the street, the r/t grips corners way better. plus, try getting insurance on a stock supercharged vehicle compared to the r/t...... if you're like me ( ten+ speeding and wreckless driving tickets) then thats impossible to afford... now, in an R/T, most ins carriers treat it like a regular dak...........

I have a Kota RT, may I tell you this now, no 4.7 is beating a
5.9. With the sure grip rear end and a 3.91 gear in it.

Food for thought. From stock to A twin bowed 5.9 gives over
500hp, I think close to 600. Think if you bore and stroke the
5.9 to a 408. With the twineys.
Hope you got a trany and some grip with it.
