two problems......all of which i noticed when sitting at stoplights...
when i come too a stop after a second or two of complete stillness there is a slight jerk which seems too come from the drivetrain.
also.......
i hear something which sound like something floating in my gas tank after i come too a stop...a clunking back and forth in tank sound
thanks

I'd get the universal joints checked out, clunks coming from the drive train can be caused by worn U-joints.

The noise you hear might just be the gas in your tank sloshing back and forth. If you sit there long enough does it fade out? If so that's probably your culprit unless something has actually fallen off the fuel pump & filter assembly in your gas tank.

I've seen posts on the "bump" before...watch your rpms. Do they drop when you feel the bump? If so, it's the computer dropping the idle speed for less fuel consumption, lower emissions, and less wear on the torque converter...this usually will happen after sitting still for a few seconds in drive after pulling up to a stop light. Shouldn't be anything to worry about, unless it's an actual clunking noise, in which case it might be something more serious like Todd W pointed out.

Is this a fairly new truck? If so, did you just pass 4000 miles? That's when the computer drops out of "break in" mode and starts lowering the idle from about 650 to about 500. In my opinion, that's too low, but they're trying to get every little bit of MPG out of these vehicles.

my 2000 idles at 650-700
my 93 at about the same

the slight bump from what i can tell from both my trucks is the torque converter unlocking. or the pressure being released by the regulator valve in the trans

my thought about the thunk in your tank is its probably the fuel shroud in the tank. its been known to come loose...(this is supposed to keep the tank from sloshing and the pump from cavitating during sharp turns.....

When you come to a stop and feel a "thump" a second or two later, I think it is because the driveshaft is still spinning. When the drive shaft stops spinning, it makes the noise.
