How hard would a swap to a 5.9 from 5.2 be in a 1998 dak 4x4 auto. Any info is appreciated. I threw a rod in mine yesterday.

It might just be easier to add some performance parts to you 318 powered truck. You might be surprised how much potential you engine under the hood has.

Easy swap. The 5.9 is externally balanced while the 5.2 is internally balanced. You need a 5.9 balancer and flexplate with weights (or add weights to your 318 torque converter), the rest of your accessories will swap right on. You might want a 5.9 computer but the 5.2 computer will run it okay.

Did you know that a 360 is just a 318 or steroids? Sure, its just a bored up engine.

You would indeed save a lot of money buying performance parts for you engine you currently got.

I had a modified 318 in my '92 Ram pickup that was modified with a Comp cam and a Holly Intake Manifold. Ran just like a 340 6BBL.

I'm looking at the 360 MPI short block to replace my 318. Anyone know anything of it? I think it has an r/t cam.

It's a good buy, IMHO. Shop around, I've seen them for $1200. On the other hand, the 360 MPI crate motor can be had for $3100. Then you get a a whole new motor, with the R/T cam, the M-1 Manifold ($350+ value), the cast valve covers ($175+ value), new heads with new valvetrain, etc.
