i have a problem with a 96 dodge ram,v-6.i can't figure this out,hoping some wrench head can help.i don,t have any special tools or any thing like that.so here go's.the truck runs great while
in low(automatic trans.)but as i begin to pick up speed and go through the gears,and hit drive, i have no power.it will eventually get to 55 but it takes it a while.i can floor it,and the truck
will not miss,it has no oder,no smoke,the truck has no power to it in the high gear.other low gears seem fine. help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it has symptoms that you have, it may be clogged.

What do you mean by 'no back pressure'? If you mean putting your hand by the exhaust outlet, while someone gives it throttle, and not much comes out, it's a good indication it may be clogged.

I guess you meant there's not much pressure coming out the tailpipe, not backpressure. If you rev it, more will come out, but some still comes out at idle of course.

A cat that old often clogs up.

this might be a long shot especially if no codes are being thrown but it might be your MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. Sounds like the symptoms but check the cat first thats the easiest

well thats what it was!(pluged converter)i began by drilling holes in the converter,took it for a test drive,ran a little better,drilled more holes,run much better.
thanks for all your help.

Just drill some holes in the damn thing!

Be careful about the exhaust gasses, and where they are going, OK?
