Subject: Cam position sensor

started my truck, drove to gas station, thing wouldnt start. My buddy hooked up his diagnostic computer which said I have a bad cam position sensor, I know its located in the distributor, How hard is it to replace and how expensive is one....all help is greatly appreciated

I haven't had to replace mine but I have had it off, it's just under the distributor cap, it's flat with a 2 wire pigtail, it has a tab on one side so it will only go in one way.

one more question, What tools will I need, I am going to try to save the tow bill and do it there in the parking lot, does it install with screws/nut and bolt.....thanks again

Screwdriver to take the distributor cap off. Pop the button off and the module will pull right out. Unplug the wire and plug the new one in. Install in reverse order and you should be good to go. Good luck.

make sure the cap is orientated squarely on the rotor ,theres not alot of room back there and have seen guys tighen down one bolt at a time and blow the ditributor cap after a few hundred miles.
