Is there anyway to adjust 4th gear on 91 a500 transmission, also anyone know how much a new a500 is verses a rebuilt. I have a 91 dakota 5.2 or 318. love the truck since new, the truck has 140000 on the speedo. trans is cooled with a modified ac condesor that i turned into a cooler 10 years ago. No trans lines through the rad, it gets to hot in vegas. its never overheated with 7000lbs. this was a cheap way to get a cooler.Sorry for the bs

Rebuild kit will run you between $65-$150, valve body $65, retail, reman torque converter $100-$250,sprag $30 and a Unit repair manual$15. You will need to check the gear set out and see if it needs to be replaced. I would just replace anyways with a newer 5 pinion setup if they have it for the 500. If you add all of this up you are not really into it for much. Especialy when you compare to $1400 dollar reman with $250 core plus tax. The only way I would buy a reman would be from dealership if they give a 3year 50,000 mile warranty. GM gives a 3 year 50,000 mile on GM goodwrench trany's and I belive a 2 year 36,000 mile warranty from Ac/Delco. IF DC offers the same that might not be a bad idea. Trany shops never give more then 12/12 warranty. Try www. bulkparts.com and JC Whitney. Both places offer rebuild kits and unit repair manuals. I prefer bulk parts because I know what I am getting but Whitney has the price advantage.
