I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota R/T. I have been looking to buy a new air intake and have seen the dual air fiters. I was just wondering if they were any better than a K/N air filter.Because I want the hp for my money.

I have seen those too. It looks to me like it would be sucking up too much hot air. I would be curious to hear from someone who has one though.

I have one and have had it on my v-6 QC for just under
a year. I love it... It's a nice heavy duty aluminum casting
that you can thread to install your IAT sensor in (I did).
The price was right and it was the single biggest
improvement I did on the truck (until I put the v-8 throttle
body on that is!).

As for it sucking up hot air, maybe if you're idling, but
when you're moving, the cold air comes in the grille and
it's fine. Some brave soul on the board here once put a
thermometer under the hood and in the air intake, etc.
and discovered that there was a minimal difference in
air temp. between the two. I'm completely happy with
the filter set up and would recommend it highly. I have
no basis for comparison to other filter set ups though so
take it for what it is.

Also, to Jason Crook, it comes with two K&N air filters...
so I assume you meant a K&N cold air set up... Again, I
don't know about that.

Do a search on the thermometer thing and even on the
dual air filter set up and you'll find my posts about it. I
like it a lot. No I don't work for them.

I had this set-up on my old 95 ram together with the reflexxion cowl induction hood. the openings under the hood are right where the twin air filters are. worked really well.

I decided a while back not to get a K&N. I've heard of so many people complaining about them cracking. I looked at one and it is no wonder that they crack. It is a terrible design as far as mounting is concerned. Unfortunately, no one else makes one for my 2000R/T with all the hardware to keep the hot air in the engine comparment out. If I had a 98/99 R/T there are a couple of manufacturers that have a better unit than K&N. I wondering what the difference between the 99 and the 2000 is besides the one piece overflow/washer reservoir and fan shroud? Does anybody know? I'm thinking about buying the Volant kit for the 1999 Dakota/Durango.
