 Subject: transmission swap?

I am planning to swap in a 5.9 into my 94. Right now I have a 42re. I am having my doubts as to whether or not this will stand up to a 360. I was thinking of possibly putting in a 44re. Are the mounts the same and the drive shaft? The drive shaft I would be able to pick up at a junk yard correct. Thanks for your help

the 42 and 44re are the same tranny, except the 44 has beefed up internals, i would look into building your 42 to the nuts and save some cash, start with a transgo shift kit, put in some kevlar bands, heavy duty clutches and maybe a 3 or 4 pinion planetary, the more pinions, the more torque it can handle because the load is distrubuted among more gears.

You might what to consider using a A-518 Jet or just a 46Re Auto. But if you want to get creative. And I would like to do this myself. Mate you swapped 360 with a NV4500 transmission. Can't go wrong with that deal.
