I run this in my 02 Ram, starts easier and milage jumped about 6 mpg. Its a bit different than amsoil, Its a parasynthetic fortified with molybdelum...not straight synth like amsoil.

The problem with amsoil, is being all synth it tends to completly drain to the oil pan when the engine stops and then you get the startup wear.

Believe me, i checked it out before i put it in my baby:)

dakinblack,

Conklin. I have seen them around but are a scarce breed. They do contain moly, and recommend a 15,000 mile drain intervel. I have no idea whether the base oil is a group II, III, or IV; what additive and additive levels, nor what type of moly they use. I have never seen any oil analysis with this oil so IMHO, if someone was to use this oil, I would not start out with a 15,000 mile drain. I would like to see an analysis one day as for the price they are charging. They are priced "up there" with the most premium of oils.

Here is a link to a thread where the question was brought up before:

Synthetic or Dino Oil ???

Jared,

Regarding your comment, "The problem with Amsoil, is being all synthetic it tends to completely drain to the oil pan when the engine stops and then you get the startup wear."

I believe that comment is "Synthetic Myth #99". If that were the case, why would so many vehicles come factory fill with synthetic oil. Without going into a lengthy discussion ... I will simply go on record as stating that it is an untrue statement.

I am a Conklin distributor, and only became one after much study. We hold more records for engine life and performance than any other product out there. I personaly use the products in our 2000 Durango, and have increased our highway fuel mileage by almost 3 miles per gallon, and reduced the wear metals on our oil analysis. (not bad huh?) Our products are used in everything from daily drivers to equipment to race cars with great results. So if you are interested in the highest quality lubricants on the market, go to WWW.jrhicountry.com for more info.

Prior to purchasing a Dodge Ram with an optional $4000.00
Cummins Tubo Diesel I reaserched a lot of oil companies.

I learned through speaking with a Cummins service rep that
Conklin contains Molybdenum (a solid lubricant) and is NOT
recommended by Cummins.

Conklin is also a very expensive "semi-synthetic" that cost just
as much as a far superior oil like Amsoil.

This discussion started back in 2003. Conklin is a semi-synthetic oil with a price that exceeds the price of 100% TRUE Synthetic Oils.

Conklin is $8 per quart ... are you joking? For a semi-synthetic motor oil. Looking at the VERY few specs on the data sheet, I see nothing special about this oil. Please also refer to my earlier post.

Well, it's 2008 and I just joined Conklin. There seems to be very little action on this chat site over the past several years. I used to use red line oil in my 1923 600 hp t-bucket. Is it really a big deal wheter I run Amsoil or Conklin in my 760 turbo Volvo? Also, I'm in the business to make honest money with just the fuel and oil products since I am involed with a windshield repair business and talk to several hundred people a week. What are your thoughts and recommendations? Sincerly, Ed B.
