Well my friend got a new chevy 5.3 litre and wanted to race me so we go out with all our friends to dump road.. and we take off i get the jump im kicking his arse hit 3rd gear and BLAWWWWWWWWW my truck spudderd and bogged down so i back off of it... I had just hit 3rd and it did it at high RPMS so I did not know if it was major or what so i turn around and drive a about 20 feet and it is still doing it...I put my truck into N and Rev it sounds clean so i take back off to the starting line and it is doing it again!? get down there and it just barely wants to run... cuts off sometimes and just soudns awful give it full WOT and it barely is making any nosse no rev at all... Well my gas gauge does not work so it could be just out of gas? I fired it up again and it sounds like my cold air intake is not sucking ANY air at all if anything blowing it out!? and my friend thought he could hear predetonation... we tow the truck home and put 4 gallons of gas in it and it takes a minute but it runs better...but it is idling rough and jsut does not sound right when i rev it a little we stood by my turn down exaust and could hear it missing every now and again and it idles rough... We changed the plugs autolights went with what the truck called for and it had splitfires in it god knows why!? (I bought it used) well it does not sound much better at ALL... Maybe since it possible ran so low on gas trash or something got into my injectors?? If so do you think some kind of gas treatment would do the trick?
Keep in mind this is a R/T Dak 5.9 it has mopar pcm,headers,taylor wires,cold air intake,dump off exaust,TB spacer,and 107K
any help I would appreciate !

Is there pressure coming out of the exhaust? If not, the cat may have clogged, or done a total meltdown, thus stopping up the exhuast.

Just one thing to check.

Keep us posted.

its probably a plugged cat converter. The dealer has to warranty it so it will probably cost nothing to fix.

if you unscrew the O2 sensor see if it runs better like that. it will sound like crap but it should run better if its a plugged cat converter. If its cold you want to bang on it with your fist and see if you hear stuff rattling around. if you do the guts of the catalitic are cracking and stuffing up the exhaust. You may feel small pieces of the cat con coming out of the exhaust if you put your hand on the ehxaust outlet and feel small pieces hit your hand.
I say Cat con got clogged up. Also I wouldnt go back for a stock converter. Go for a random technology ones they are only abotu 120$ or so

I may be going out on a limb here, but what I always thought it meant was that you need to check your engine. I could be wrong, so don't quote me on that one.

if you ran your truck out of gas, then the pcm's
adaptive fuel memory might need to be reset, suffer paying the 1 hour diag and take it to the dealer, if you're nice to them, they will not charge you to flash it, cause it takes light 5 minutes to flash most dakotas

Yeah I talked to this guy that had a Mopar PCM and ran it really close to being outta gas and it messed the PCM up REAL bad the truck was driving like sh!t even w/ the supercharger on it. Well he had it reflashed and that fixed it...on my Kenne Bell flash it says in the instructions: DO NOT LET THE TRUCK RUN OUT OF GAS!

Try resetting the PCM first to see if that does anything...to do that disconnect the negative battery terminal then turn your ignition key to the on position for about 10-15 seconds, then reconnect the battery terminal.

it sounds like that is your problem with the symptoms you described. most dealers will do it for 1.0 hour labor, if you tell them the correct
symptoms and ask them to see if the pcm needs a flash. i have seen it on stock and non stock pcms

Forget all that hokus pocus dude, your loking at some internal damage.Sounds like bent vlv's to me.bent valve or valves causing low compression and misfiring in one or more cyldrs.Happens often when gouging on the throttle with worn valve train components. First thing , do a compression test on all 8 and see if any readings are out of tolerance, if so its time for a valve job and new valves. Seriously, sounds like one or more are not seating.
