If you are dealing with a auto, make sure that the torque converter is seated correctily....with the converter on the shaft turn it and you will feel it seat...there are slots on the tc that fits into slots in the trans pump housing....another thing and I'm not to sure that it applies to Dak's but it does to Jeeps....screw the tc clockwise onto the trans after the tc is "clunked" into the slots that I mentioned earlier...I've done a few tranny's in the Jeep's and found that screwing thing was the only way that I could get the engine and tranny hooked back up... now the b*tch...unscrewing the tc after you get the eng and trans together... I used a longer bolt to pull the tc out and then was able to get the correct bolts back in....used alittle thread lock on them...DCC recommends new bolts (looks like they put thread lock on them)...If manual try turning the engine over with a socket/ratchet or turn the tail shaft yoke...what u want to be doing is getting the splines matched up...let us know what happens.

Well we got it to mount up and all seemed like it was well and when we started it up, it was making a loud sound from the torque converter and a little bit of smoke, and then after 5 min the noise went away, so then I put it in gear and got nothing, I think that the tq that I put on there was no good and just died even more, now when I start her up it sonds regular but I dont go no where, so now im in need of a tq....I think.....

Might have been the problem to begin with. Did you drop the pan on the one that "failed"?? I killed a converter in an older 904 and thought the same thing at first, pulled the pan, no carnage, called around to tranny shops and all said converter. Hmm....

You might wanna double check on the fluid capacity. If I remember correctly, I've put as much as 4-6 qts in before installation. Change the front seal as well, it's probably cooked. Where did the one you have come from? Could it have been full of garbage from a failure? Hope not, might have damaged the pump as well if it digested some metal chunks or ran dry too long. Good local shop you might call for advice is:
