 Subject: Rebuild kits

i got a '97 SLT excab w/ a 3.9L and auto. I want to rebuild the motor and the tranny. its a second vehicle and still runs although the motor is rough and the tranny has started acting like the clutch or tourque converter is going out. so it doesnt have to be rebuilt but i wanna do it as a learning experience if nothing else (rebuilt 1 motor and 0 trannys b4 this). anyway who had the best rebuild kits for motor and rebuild and shifter kits for the tranny. and manuals?
btw im not looking for performance just stock will do as its my work truck
btw 1st vehicle is '95 Chevy 1500 Mark III w/ a 305 and 5speed manual. (also a great truck)

You can get a master rebuild kit for around $60
you will need to purchase the bands and bushings seperately put they only run around $1-$7. Spring for the best bands if you tow or 4 wheel alot.

cool thanks!!! im still ahving problems finding a torque converter. and a engine rebuild kit for these though. any ideas? i hate to go to the dealership and napa doesnt carry them,
