Stock Vs. stock the RT will get smoked. Sorry to asy that. Now if the RT came with the new hemi 5.7 then Id say it would be a lot closer

Stock for stock it is not even close. Your talking almost 1.5 seconds difference. Thats alot. But throw on a 100 shot or even 150 shot and it would get interesting real fast : )

It comes with a fking super charger? Take that out and that thing is slow. Put a super charger on an r/t and take it off of a lighting and race. The r/t will kick it's ass.

There is alot more to a lightning then just a slapped on super charger. It is a totally built motor that can take some serious abuse. I have seen 250 shots of nitrous slapped on them with no problems. They hook like no other on street tires as well. Would I trade my r/t for one, probly not. But for a truck that can put out serious HP, ford unfortunatly won.

the Lighning would still have 300+ hp R/T stock has about 280 hp. Lightning has like 450hp with supercharger. If you take that supercharger off and run it would be close.

Your so stupid shane. A lighting doesn't have anywhere near 400 hp at the wheels stock? I have a friend with an 01 lighting, has bassani exhaust, headers, intake, and a chip, and he is running 18lbs of boost. He dynoed at 425 hp. As for them handling better around turns? Maybe you should learn how to drive. It ins't all about just turning the wheel, you have to use your break and gas when in a turn. I personally don't want to buy a truck from factory knowing it his no competition.I like to work on my truck, so I can say I made it fast, not to say ford did it. And I am right, put a supercharger on a r/t and take one off of a lighting. The r/t will win. Thank you.

Well the RT does not come with a supercharger. Till then the lightning is fastest. Since he asked for a comparision of stock vs. stock the lightning wins. At this point the Suercharger for the RT is not even a option. if you took off the SC from the lightning and had a RT with a SC bla bla bla give me a break. If Dodge wanted to up the HP in the RT they would add a SC but since they dont its obviously not a concern to them.
im not trying to start anything but its not comparing apples to oranges. youre comparing 2 trucks one that is faster than the other. As soon as you modify a RT its not stock anymore. Either way I dotn think the lightning is going away anytime soon. I personally like the way the RT looks and yes it can be modified to be as fast or faster than the lightning. the only reason i would get a lightning is because its fast and you have a factory warranty on it

i have a buddy with a lightning, and raced him numerous times with my R/T, yea he beats me , but not like i thought he would, he gets me by about a car lenth every time and that's bout it. i laugh either way, would rather have my dodge then that 4 letter F word anyday. with the 10 grand i saved i'll have my 22's and my supercharger for that amount.

the 2005 Lightning has an estimated 450hp my bad 2003 has 380hp with 8 lbs of boost. Until you have drivin a Lightning in which I have you will not know which is that fastest and which is not. But I will tell you this I crapped my pants when I floored it.

Shane, the Lightning that they introduced at the auto show is only a "concept" with 450hp. they will most likely keep the same basic idea as the concept but detune.
OK, lets just say the DO build the 2005 the exact same as that concept, you know how much that thing will be???????? you would be able to buy a dakota, drop a viper V10 in it, and still have a bunch of $$$$ to spend

My buddy and 3 of his friends that have been running their Lightnings at 15lbs of boost eventually blew their motors. Yeah they ran like a bat out of hell but they paid the price...one w/ a plug shot through the head and another one broke 3 pushrods.
And if that guy is running 18lbs of boost better realize its not gonna last that long...sure it may see fine now but trust me somethin is about to blow! ;)

hey miked, the new lightnings are overhead cam, but knowing ford they probably fit some pushrods in there somehow so the engineers can justify their existence with the company. now the lightning vs srt-10, now thats a true match up. there is no replacement for displacement.

Last I heard on the price it was going to be 50 grand. That was about 4 or 5 months ago.

Tha dodge RT is the fastest...for now...but! theres a new Lightning due in 2004 boasting a 500+hp V8. I say 500hp "+" because it has a cold air gizmo thats supposed to make extra ponies. When the new lightning is out only then can we realy compare the two.
Whats the quarter mile time for the RT??

the srt10 is faster than a lightning sure, i don't know about the states, but in Canada you can get a lightning for $38 - $42000. SRT pricetag $73000. I don't think they should even compare. Don't get me wrong, the SRT is amazing but the motor tranny option is worth $32000. I don't think we will see to many of those around

It's not twin S/C'ed beacuse that would not work with a single crankshaft. It could be twin turbo, but it's not. Single S/C setup is teh Lightnings forte...

Just gotta pipe in here right quick!! First off you cant compare dodge's old technology against fords new technology! Compare a blown hemi versus a lightning! The fricken hemi makes over 500 horses with the kenne bell setup with i think 10 pounds of boost! Courtesy of truckn magazine! Jeez louise....500 horse blown hemi in the RT would just hand almost anything its azz on a silver platter! Enough said!
