Hi All!

I am new to the Dakota Family, and it looks like this will be a great place for information. I just ordered a 4wd 2001 SLT Club Cab with 4.7 and 5 speed. I opted for the bucket seats, and was wondering if anyone else that has buckets with the 5 speed could tell me how the center console is affected? All of the consoles shown in the 2001 catalog were shown with the automatic tranny. Do I lose the floor mounted cupholders?

Also, could you tell me if the 4wd system still has the switch on the dash (instead of the lever) when the dakota is equipped with the 5 speed?

Thanks for any info you can give me, but none of the dealers I went to had any Dakotas with buckets and a 5 speed.

Anxiously waiting for mine!

Chris

We too are also new members of the Dakota family. Yesterday we picked up an 01 SLT CC 4.7L 5 speed, but we have the bench seat. If the floor console is the same, then you lose one cupholder compared to the one we drove with the AT. I don't know about the console between the seats. Also, the 4WD switch is on the dash just to the left of the heater knobs

Chris,

I have the same truck as you, more or less (Sport). The center console is deeper than with the bench seat, going all the way to the transmission hump. Under the lid is a pull-out tray built for cassettes or CD's, and there is plenty of space underneath it for misc. There's also a power point in there. You'll find two cupholders, including one with a real coffee cup handle cutout. Clever, but I don't drink coffee. There are a couple places for stuff on the outside of the console as well. There is no longer a shift lever for 4X4, just the knob.

Have fun

Dan R.
