from what ive heard the 5.7 will directly replace a 4.7. i dont know the truth behind that statement, but ive heard it from 2 different people now. its 345 hp and an rt is 250 hp. im pretty sure the hemi would be faster.

jdub, what do you mean by replace the 4.7? I know that the 5.7 will eventually replace the the "old" 5.9 360 but I'm pretty sure it's not replacing the 4.7.

No such thing as a motor you just drop and and ready to go. There is always, ALWAYS, something that's a big pain in the ass that you will run into. Blame Murphy, not me.

The 5.7 is based on the 4.7 block.

I'm sorry, but the 5.7 hemi is not based on the 4.7 block.
5.7 is a single cam in block design. 4.7 is sohc.
However, I am sure that if the motor mounts don't match
up they won't take much to adapt. Its other things that
will give you fits, namely tranny choices and PCM. Also,
remember the new hemi has electronic throttle control.
so your gonna need the lvdt or what ever they use on
the pedal for position and rate sensing. Could be tough,
but will have to be solved if you plan to use hemi pcm.
