Well, the time has come. I'm getting rid of my Dak. I just can't take the 14mpg average (can never get better than 15 and that's granny driving) nor the incredibly lousy turning radius. It's a powerful beast, I'll admit, but I need better fuel economy. I'm going back to Ford's as I've always had them and never a problem and they have much better mpg's. My time with the Dak has been 2/3 fun, 1/3 miserable and life's just too short for that 1/3.

Thanks to all for your help and input the past year. If anyone in the D.C. area is looking for a good Dak then drop me an email. My Dak is:

'96 CC 3.9L, homebrew K&N cold air intake, Dynomax muffler, bedliner, new tires, p/s, p/b, p/w, p/m, a/c. If yer a Tampa Bay Bucs fan I'll leave the stickers on otherwise they'll come off and you'll get a very clean truck. I can also take off the cold air intake and put back the stock stuff.

Email for price and questions.

Peace and good Dak health to all!
Tim R.

Lousy turning radius? The great turning radius is one of the things which I love about my Dak. Maybe GEN II's are different...

Lousy milage? Yeah I can agree there. I did not buy a V8 truck to get good milage ;) I know you bought a V6 but they're not much (if any) better.

Good luck and happy trails. Hope your next purchase suits you.

If the mileage is a concern, get a 4.7. I've NEVER gotten worse than 15mpg, and thats including when I go to the drag strip.
The 3.9 is absolutely worthless, no power, no mileage, nothing.
Just my .02

Well unless you plan to buy a ranger with a 4 banger and 5speed your mileage isn't gonna be any better. Suprisingly the v-8 daks get better gas mileage than the 6's from virtually everyone I talk to. I have the 5.2 in a 3 ton 4x4 with bolt ons and still get 14-18mpg depending on how I drive. It's just so hard to keep your foot outta the throttle with no mufflers. My friend has a 2wd, rc, sb f-150 with the 6 and he still gets 16-18mpg and my monster sled will dog his. I find it interesting all the people that buy big trucks with 6's say, "I wanted the good gas mileage." What they don't understand is it's so much harder on the little motor in a big truck the gas mileage isn't any better and if you need to get on the gas you're just outta luck.

I have an old '94 EXT Cab 4x4 3.9 manual trans with 89000 miles with a heavy 'glass cap. Before I changed the TB to the V8, reset the TPS, the best mileage on a trip was 22.9. Normally around town I get 17-18. Now with the mods its dropped somewhat because I have my foot out in the radiator someplace more often, but still averages around 20+ if I drive with a little sense. The only reason I made the mods was for a little more power and driveablity. I use it mosty in the mountains ( that reminds me...I gotta clean that deer blood and hair outta the bed) hunting and fishing.
I think I'll stick with mine for a while longer.
Bill

good luck selling that V6...I had help...got 13,000 on my trade in cause there was a sale on the last day of the year.

If I ever do get another dodge though...It will be either a hemi or a 4.7HO..cause the other engines are sh*t

I easily get 18 in my 4.7+5 speed. You might just consider an upgrade.

I don't understand the "incredibly lousy turning radius". My 01 cc rt turns on a dime. I'd think a truck with smaller wheel/tire combo, would turn even better. Good luck with the Ford, buy yourself a nice pair of walking shoes...you're gonna need em.
