ok, could a STOCK lightning take a STOCK r/t w/ a quality sc. Me and my friend are in the common argument here, well yeah If I spent 8k more for the same truck with the same miles I'd have a lightning BUT if I went out and bought some boost we'd be even if not even faster cause I'm lighter right? ... oh please tell me i'm right...

thats a definite affirmative there good buddy. If you put the money into your r/t that he has in his lightning, you would be much faster :)

Depends on the year and configuration...

2003 Lightnings can go 13.2 or so in the quarter mile (this is considering an optimal track... Here in Las Vegas they run 14.0)

2003 RC R/T's can go as fast as 14.7 in the quarter bone stock at a similar track.

Otherwise bone stock, adding a supercharger to the R/T will give around a 1.0 second improvement in the quarter mile to the R/T... Give or take a few tenths depending on which blower you buy, boost level, tuning, etc. Comparing this to the Lightning still isn't fair because the Lightning weighs more, still costs a lot more, but it's also got forged internals, better accessories, etc.

On the other hand... Add the regular bolt-ons (TB, M1, RR's, PCM, Headers, Exhaust) plus a power adder (SC or NX) and you've got yourself a low to mid 12-second R/T. Combine power adders and you've got an 11-second truck like Scott Q or Damon. The cost of the basic list above plus SC would run around $6500. Then again, you could do the bolt-ons plus $900 worth of NX gear and post at least the same times out of a 150 shot.
