Some people thought I was crazy when I drove 400 miles (one-way) to buy my Dakota. I bought a 2002 QC in September, so I was unable to order exactly what I wanted. I wanted it loaded, leather seats and all, and it was very difficult to find. I finally found what I wanted in Birmingham, AL. I live in Baton Rouge. Took off a day of work and made the road trip. Drove up there in a 95 Ford Ranger RC 4-cyl and back in my new Dakota. Let's just say the return trip was much more enjoyable!
Anybody else driven further to buy their Dakota?

If I had my way I would travel to Argentina to pick up my new Dakota.
Dodge offers the Dakota with a four cylinder diesel engine in South America and it gets around 40 miles per gallon!
Can you just imagine how many little diesel Dakotas Dodge would sell if they would offer that truck here but equip it with a turbo to boot !

when my brother got his grand cherokee he was going to order it. but the dealship searched for him and another dealership a few hours away had exactly what he wanted on their lot. our dealership arranged to have it delivered here for him.

My local dealership is one of the absolute worst. I went to Dave Smith in Kellog, ID to get mine. They are about 2.5 hours away, easy drive. No hassle, no haggle, invoice + rebate buys. Best place to get a new Dodge or GM from.

bout' 160 miles for my 00' R/T cc. There were 2 here in DE and both were private so they (like I will be) were very FIRM on their high price heh ... ended up going to MA and picked up a stock one-owner with a condo (seriously, it was one of those bi-level storage facilities with double windows and french doors in the back) sized camper on the back for a great price. I'd do it all over again and travel double if I had to, being in DE there's no tax even if I go out of state as long as I'm a resident so that's cool. Which reminds me, I gotta call the consignement place that I dropped that house off at.. wonder if it ever sold heh.

i drove about 270 miles one way to get mine. took a whole day but i saved 7,000 over what the local guys were offering.. well worth the price of gas.

They sell it in Brazil.Itīs closer than Argentina...

Dave Smith in Idaho will be your best bet! I didn't buy mine there, because a local dealer had a great deal on almost what I wanted so bought there, but, if you want to order a high end Dodge, check them out. Most of my friends have saved $$$$$$. Just my .02
