O.K. for the sake of argument , lets just agree for a second and say yes the dog charged at the cop and he felt he was going to be attacked so he fired his gun....
How could have this all been avoided?
Lets all back up a few minutes and see...
Maybe , just maybe the A$$ hole cop (or one of the other ones that were there...they`re not all A-holes) could have closed the DAMN DOOR when they told them there was a dog inside!!!
Yea, yea , I heard the part about securing the car first and all the other gripes about never knowing by the looks of people if they are a "bad guy" or not...they didn`t do anything wrong!!!
Perhaps if there was a reported armed robbery or car jacking , murder , etc... and the car the were in fit that description I would have a different way of thinking about the whole thing.
All I can keep thinking is , they were on their way home from a family vacation , stop for gas , get the hell scared out of them by some idiot of an officer , then he splatters their family dogs head all over right in front of them , because he has very bad judgement on when to use a firearm and when to close a door when on a busy road and knows an animal is inside.

Nice, all the opinions and such, real nice.
I haven't committed any felonies, and never been caught. I'm a Firefighter here in Texas, volunteer, I could not afford to be a paid firefighter, low pay. My entire city's FD is volunteer. And I still don't agree with what these LEO's did.
Anyway, no matter waht you think about this, did you send them an e-mail?, the addy is in the original post. I did.
