in case you didnt believe that there was a safety against it, i found out.. You can shift into reverse while driving foward and nothing will happen...lol
actually before i traded in my dak i was driving along and i was like..hmm im gonna shift into from D to 2 just to mess around or what ever.. so i go to do it and i get distracted or something and i end up in reverse...lol. anyway.. nothing happened. so feel free to do it...lol

What about drive to park? My truck died and i was in traffic so i went for nuetral real quick and missed them all and droped the thing in park doing about 20mph. Does the same thing work in this instence?

The reason i ask is, i hydro locked the truck that is why it died and i have yet to drive it because im building up the engine. It went in and out of gears fine when i towed it and sits in park fine but i have yet to drive the truck?

why the hell can we shift from park without our foot on the break? that sh!t is dangerous, my dad had his foot on the gas by accident and shifted into reverse, spinning the tires and nearly hitting acouple cars. i know it does it in my truck and their durango...

Yea my eyes got huge when mine went all the from drive to park. Its a stupid flaw if you ask me and we should let known. But it will just add to the long long list of stuff that is weird with dodge trucks.

yeah the park thing is dumb. one time my friend was being a moron and assumed nothing would happen if he tryed to shift into drive as long as i didnt have my foot on the brake. so we rolled foward.. and he was like uhh umm thats not supposed to happen and i was like yeah dodges suck...guess what...YOU CANT DO THAT IN MY SE-R!!!!

Im not agreeing with anyone, but it is kind of a crappy design. I love my R/T but i still dont know if my tranny is totalled because of the misshap. It happened to me once while racing i mainly shifted into neutral at the top of 2nd gear. And ive been racing for years now and have made over 80 pass's with my truck alone. Then when it stalled and you have cars coming at you there is no time to think to make sure you get it to neutral you just shift up and in the heat of it you miss. Crap happens and it is a crappy design.

here is the deal:
shifting to park from drive going over 5 mph will make this horrible clicking noise until cars slows down enough then all of a sudden it will slam into park.
shifting ro reverse from drive will actually go in reverse, wheels screech and motor usually cuts off.
I worked in a parking garage as a teenager, and I will NEVER park in one now!!!
p.s. if you do park in one tip the guy, because he will remember you the next time!!
I remember this one guy never tipped and was a real jerk, in the summer i rolled down his windows and slammed every door as hard as I could untill they broke, the windows shattered inside the door frames so you could not tell by looking at it, since it was warm out and he was so cheap he never used a/c I new he would not roll windows up untill he got home, boy was he pissed when he came in the next day.

Finally lol! A good answer. Thanks man cause that is exactly what the car did a bunch of clicking then i pushed the brakes and it stopped. Praise the lord the tranny might not be screwed.

that was the whole point of this...the dak didnt go into reverse, it just made a clicking noise and then i shifted back into drive once i realized what i had done...i was going about 40 when this happened

no you are lying!, if you went into park it would click, and I don't think it does any damage, go into reverse doing 40 and you car will come to a screeching halt and shut off, never did it going that fast but I know there would be MAJOR damage. Stop being a retard

LOOK MORON. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU TRY TO DO THIS??? I WAS GOING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 30 AND 50, I WENT TO SHIFT TO 2, I WENT BACKWARDS BY ACCIDENT, THE INDICATOR WENT TO R. I GOT IT OUT OF THERE PRETTY FAST SO MAYBE I DIDNT LET IT ENGAGE FULLY, BUT ALL IT DID WAS MAKE A FUNNY NOISE AND THE CAR KEPT ROLLING FOWARD WITHOUT LOSING MUCH SPEED. IT HAPPENED, BUT DON'T TRY TO REPLICATE IT!!! THAT WOULD BE DUMB, DONT YOU THINK???
