Here in Toronto were paying about $3.44 a gallon as of yesterday.
It went up about 32 cents a gallon overnight.
There blaming it on the national strike in Venezuala and the possible war in Iraq.
An imperial gallon is about 20% bigger than an American gallon.
Curious as to how much you folks in the States are paying.
According to the news, OPEC wants to hold the price below $30.00

Lew. 20% larger or not, I'm not sure you really want to know how much it costs here. But, if you must know,in Indiana it bounces back and forth between $1.20 and $1.40 for regular. About $.10 more for mid-grade, and $.20 more for high grade.

You're not allowed to pump your own gas in New Jersey!

Check out GasPriceWatch.com. You can search with your zipcode and find the lowest prices in your area.

1.38 for premium plus in dallas tx. We can pump our own gas. A few friends of mine work at gas stations (QT). They have GR's(Gas Rips)every day. Their is not a way they can get cought if their smart. The employees arn't allowed to chase after them, and there is no cameras. No wonder so many people steal gas, and no wonder you can't pump your own gas! It would give a lot more people jobs in the country if every gas station had to have attendants pump gas.

About $1.58 a gallon for regular 87 octane here in upstate NY.

Did you hear that the new Durango may have a gas\electric hybrid option? They claim 0-60 in 7.5 seconds, 120mph top speed, 25mpg!

explain to me again why gas prices went up.

1- scarcity -are there any gas stations without gas, no
2 - production costs - does it cost any more to pump out of the ground, no
3 - profit thru fear - we have been trained to accept increased gas prices based on negative news.

Why is it accepatable for oil companies to raise the value of their current inventory based on bad news, yet we look down on a store owner who raises his prices when a storm is forecasted.

One is OK and one is gouging ?????

Because one little store owner is held accountable under the law and the oil companies are not.

I believe the suppliers to a station tell them what to charge.

Gas prices go up due to supply and demand. They go up in the summer because people drive more. There is a limited amount of "extra" gas in the system, and prices usually follow how much extra gas is lying around. IF supply builds up prices go down. Prices are going up now because a significant portion of our shipments from Venezuela are not coming in anymore, so prices go up, people drive less. If they stayed the same, the country would run into a shortage. A possible war means pissing off a bunch of countries with lots of oil, so prices can go up in anticipation of a shortage, or to build up a little extra reserve.

Current prices are set on the current price of oil, not necessarily the actual cost of the real oil that went into the gas. Sometimes you might pay less too.

dako3, you really don't believe that drool. That's school boy stuff. if that were true i would take the long way to work when prices are low, etc, etc, and what's that got to do with the value of their inventory

more drool feed to comsumers. oil/gas goes up in summer because people drive. oil/gas goes up in winter because people heat houses.

reality - oil/gas is a controlled commodity, it's not corn or some other value added product. It's a huge swimming pool filled with oil and you can take out one bucket a day or three buckets a day. OPEC is meeting to up their output. = number of buckets taken out each day.

Thank Russia for reduced oil prices in the past. they wanted hard currency in the last ten years or so.

Lew: either mayor Mel is sticking it to you or your math is a little off.

Here in Ottawa gas is about 76.9 cents/Litre. According to my math, that converts to about $2.91/ U.S. Gallon (in Canadian dollars), but only about $1.80/gallon in US dollars. So we are higher but not that much.

Ottawa, I wasn't converting to US gallons. I was just telling what we pay here.
76.9 x 4.5= $3.46 per Canadian gallon

Why would you think Mel is sticking it to us, he's always so believable HaHa
