I was on All-data.com and it was saying their was an emission recall on 2000 dakotas 4wheel drive with the 4.7L engine. Do they reprogram your ECM and get rid of the erratic idle everybody has a problem with?? I have over 16,000 miles on mine and it still does that damn idle thing, up and down.

TSB's are good IF your truck is still covered by warrenty. Otherwize you pay to fix. Also, TSB's cover problamatic items that are NON LIFE THRETENING ONLY. Also, they will not repair a TSB unless it is actually causing some sort of malfunction. In other words, the part needs to fail or be defective from the get go to get it fixed . TSB's are not a recall and manufacture has no responsibility to notify you of them. It's up to you to recognize a problem and bring it up to the dealer.

My 99 SLT 4x4 automatic shifted into reverse very harsh. Dealer argued there was not a problem and they all did this. I found the TSB'S on my truck (82 in all) and the Trany did have one for this problem . Replacing the valve body and a rubber type ball ? rather then steel plus the plate holding it in place was the fix. After extensive arguing over a period of several weeks, they finaly admited there was a TSB for this and fixed it. Just letting you know so you can be ready for a battle.

So many problems .... So little time

I have one for you. Trans won't engage at all. Also the trans does not require a brake depress to shift in or out of gear. New filters and fluid still nothing. No debris in pan or trans that is visible. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks Guys.
