 Subject: Shift lever lock

I have a 2001 dakota quad wtith an automatic 4.7
I just started it but it won't shift out of park. It's parked on a downhill grade but that's never been a problem before. Is this something that would be fixed with the interlock recall?
We tried to push it back a little to see if something in the xmsn is binding but no help.
