I took the initiative and contacted Daimler, supposedly by now the dealers are all informed of the 2wd extension of warrenty.

Your vehicle has a warranty for 10 years or 100,000 miles for the upper
ball joints. It is listed in the warranty information system that the
dealership has access to.

just a followup
last thurdsay I had both upper balljoints replaced free of charge at a chrysler dealer. When I got home on friday I recieved a letter in the mail notifying me of the warrenty extension. I just got anxious and pushed them to do it before the letter came I guess
