I'm just curious which of these is normal and which i should probably do something about. I love my dakota but at the same time would love to trade it in for .....anything bigger. Ram preferably, or "other" american truck makers.

Here's what she does though
its a '98 3.9 V6 Auto. Had it for one year so far

1. When it gets cold sometimes won't shift out of 2nd. If i let it warm up it doesn't do it.

2. Has this real thing for redlining at the worst of moments. I can be doing 40 or something in 2nd gear and instead of it shifting to 3rd it goes back to 1st and redlines. Real pleasent when i want to drag someone. Only does it when its cold and only done it 3 times now.

3. Stupid passenger floor board wet but i found the forum fix for it.

4. The other day i pulled into friends driveway and it just died. Started right back up but couldn't exactly figure that one out. First time for that.

5. Gas gauge sometimes bs's to me. twice now this has happend. It'll say i have a quarter or more but when in actuallity i run out of gas. Thanks low fuel light....coulda kinda used ya.

Thats it pretty much. its got 77800 miles on it as well. Any help would be loved.

1. & 2. Those are caused by slippage inside the transmission. I would first try and replace the fluid/filter, and adjust the bands. If that doesn't work, you'll eventually need a rebuild.

4. Could be almost anything. Check for computer codes first.

5. Fuel sender seems to be a recurring theme around here. If it really bothers you, replace it. Otherwise just keep track of miles traveled.
