 Subject: 4x4 shift..unwanted

I have a '01 qaudcab 4x4 slt 5.9l......any info on the electronic shift going into 4hi in wet conditions? (i.e. heavy rain or large puddles.) I also have the squeking and clunking frontend....ticking from the motor, and uneven tire wear. I am running 265/75 16 a/t...any info would be appreciated thanks..
