Not only was a ticket entered, but I recently received a phone call from NHTSA, stating the engineer has one year to finish the investigation, which began October 2003. This apparently helps alleviate issues that may come out of legal proceedings following a recall. Without stating it as fact, it sounds like Dodge/DaimlerChrysler will be making amends, whether on their own or forced, toward the end of the year.

I just had the upper ball joints replaced on my 2000 Durango, along with a lot of other front end suspension work, an alignment that wasn't actually done and new brakes and rotors. After all of that, the front end of my car still makes a grinding noise when going over bumps. The mechanic say it is the sway bar bushings. He says they were not covered unter warranty because they were not "failed" or cracked. Originally, they told me this noise was because of the ball joints..now I am worried that the work wasn't done correctly, if at all.

Lisa, is the noise actually a grinding sound or is it perhaps an annoying dry rubber/ or sqeeking sound? Im not a mechanic (professionally) but bushings don't exactly grind. if you put some lithium grease on the bushings it may take care of the noise (or just to rule out the bushings). My front sway bushings make these noises, along with my upper control arm bushings especially after it has rained and they're wet so i end up spraying the grease in them about once a month.
