My '99 3.9 Dak has had quite history of issues. Trans leaks ad nauseum. Finally fixed after 3 years and 8 trips to dealer. Covered under warranty even after it expired. Have had all the usual DAK stuff. Leaking exhaust manifold due to "broken" bolts. Both upper ball joints junk from Warren Assembly. Did NOT replace with Mopar. Three sets of tires in 48K miles. The front end just eats them up. Horrible front brake calipers. I also hate the refusal to go into overdrive when cold. With a 3.92 axle, that just doesn't make.
Did I mention how bad it sucks gas? Water pump replaced. Idle computer flashed. Gosh. All these issues were in less than 48K miles.
You might think I hate this truck, but surprisingly, you'd be wrong. I adore it. Can't explain it. Best driving, handling truck I have ever had, and I've had a bunch.
There is something about it that is beyond mere mechanic or utilitarian reasons. I just love the size and the drive. I only wished the thing deserved it once in awhile.
