That's what I said... She rolled over her Durango and slammed into a tree....and on that note does anyone know if there were ever any recalls on the airbags or is ther a website I can go to to find out.. and if anyone has any info about when the airbags should deploy on these damn things. Cause she hit the front end dead on right in the middle and it didn't go off, and her seatbelt came undone. shes ok but if there was nothing wrong with the air bags they should have gone off. PLEASE POST if you know anything about this. Thanks a bunch in advance guys your help is appreciated.

There is a recall on the 1999's Airbags and also seat belts. I'am not sure what other years were recalled.
If the Air Bag is not functioning properly the light on the dash should of been illumintated. This is caused by an open circuit in the clockspring. I'am not sure of the details dealing with the recalled seat belts. Go to the website below for better info.

You can find recalls on all years, and models, of cars and trucks on this website.
Good to know too. It turns out there is a recall on the brake lines of my '99 and my fiancee's '00 DAK (I didn't check other years).

sorry about your accidentand glad your lady's ok.This will probubly get me flamed again, but to answer your question...there is a minimum speed threashold for frontle impacts before the air bags will deploy. if the forward velocity of her truck fell below that speed before she hit the tree,as in the roll over slowing down her truck, it wouldn't deploy anyway.but by the same token, if she hit the tree at about 30mph,( I think, thats what it is for GM ) it should have deployed. hope this helps.... Glad your lady is fine. I was involved in a chain reaction accident with my '99 a little over a year ago. I center punched the hitch on an S-10 causing the front bumper to V out. The airbags did not deploy, when I asked the shop about it and the insurance adjuster both gave the same explanation. There is a speed sensor that detects the rate of deceleration, the speed at impact was about 15 mph, so it was below the threshold as mentioned by Bill. They also mentioned that there are impact sensors mounted behind the bumper below the headlights. Because the bumper pulled away from the headlights these sensors did not activate either. I never bothered to check any manuals on this but I got the same from two sources and it kinda made sense.
