Subject: 95 Seat Problem, Seat Back Bolt Snapped
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 95 dakota with a split bench seat. A week ago a bolt snapped that attaches the reclining bracket to the seat back. Which lets the seat back to go back and forth without locking. Now the other half of the bolt is still in the seat and won't come out, hense can't put a new bolt in. Temporarily I put a long bolt through another whole which is used to mount the plastic cover on. Anyone have a simular problem and/or tips? I'm going to put the newer style split bench in (97-04).

My bolt broke on my 94 DAK SLT in 2001 and I found you can remove the cover from the seat back , it unhooks from the bottom and using a pair of vice grips screwed the remaining part of the bolt thru the brace and then I bought a bolt with a higher tensile rating at a hardware store and haven't had a problem since. Good luck and take your time pick a nice day and do it outside so you have plenty of room or remove the seat from the track
