My 93 4x4 5.2l: 1800 rpm@ 65mph. Check your tire size? Maybe your O/D isn't working right or your torque converter may not be locking up.

Howard S.Had. My tires are 75R/15 witch the book says i need. Im shifting into forth gear at around 35mph. At 55mph I can turn off the overdrive with the o/d shutoff button and it goes over 3000 rpm. Thanks for the reply, and I hope you can help nail this down .

I've got a 91 with a 318. I don't look at my rpms at 65 but I do know that at 80 they are at 3000. I do a lot of highway driving. I also have 75 R 15s and they are winter tires. I run them all yr.

Irac820 doesn't that seem a littel high . I knew
a v8 gets less gas milage than a v6 but I didn't think it wpuld be this bad. I'm lucky if i'm getting 12 mpg, I have standerd duty trany with 3^5 gear in the axels. It shifts into forth at 35 mph that seems a littel low to me . thanks for the feed back.

I hooked a Snap-On computer to my '92 5.2 4x2, and the tach was 800 RPM low. When my Tach said 1000, I was running at 1800. I wonder if there is some widespread problem with the Tachs? My tire size doesn't matter, because I was sitting in the driveway not moving.

I have a 92 dakota LE 5.5L auto 4x4. It has 177,000 miles on it and the tac reads 2000 at 65, 1850-1950 at 60. That seems about normal and i get 19mpg highway and 12mpg in town.
