About 1 out of every 100 times that I run my '99 Dakota, (V8 4wd 5 spd) the idle races to 1200 rpm. After about 5 sec., it returns to normal. It's really scary when in traffic, you go to pull forward slightly and it takes off. Luckily, its a manual tranny, so I just pull in the clutch. The dealer couldn't find the problem because it's intermittent. As a result my girlfriend won't drive it. Maybe this is a good thing:)
