Subject: gas pedal pulsations
IP: Logged

Message:
My 2001 2wd quadcab with 4.7 has a pulsation in the gas pedal at around 1900 rpm and higher. It feel like the the throttle plate is being push closed by a open or late intake valve. Is anyone else have the problem? The dealer has looked at over 6 times and acknowleged there is something wrong, but they do not have an answer. Any ideas please respond.

I was experimenting with how to fix a rough idle on a 2001 4.7 Dakota. I had the annoying pedal pulsation until I installed a 2003 air intake resonator on my 2001.What they did on the 2003 model is relocate the man. air. temp. sensor. It takes 5 minutes. Order a 2003 4.7 air intake resonator(about $70.00). It includes the temp sensor. Two screws and two hose clamps and its off. Unplug the old sensor and move the wire to the new one on the resonator. The wire will reach. The new location gives the computer a more accurate reading of the air temp entering the engine. The idle is better and the pedal viabration is next to nill. The engine always feels more responsive now.You sould notice a difference, I did.

I have the same problem in my 2002. Feels like the intake resonance is being transmitted through the pedal. I was going to try and figure out some way to isolate the linkage.

My 01 QC 4.7 5spd manual tranny, had this same thing. I never worried about it, kinda thought is was kinda cool actually. A long time ago I went with a home brew air intake that got rid of my air hat and accordian tube, and uses a K&N filter for very low $, and never had it again.
