I have a 2000 Quad 4x4 with 4.7L engine, and while pulling up hills on interstate, my a/c switches to defrost. I had a valve replaced in nashvill TN but out here in Utah, they cant duplicate. Its only when I'm pulling a trailer
Anybody heard of this? I'm having the popping noises in the rear too, sounds like my grandpa's old car

Did you ever get it fixed? My airconditioner switches to defrost also anytime I'm under load---going up a hill, or just accelerating quickly. I have a '98 3.9 v6 4wd. thanx, Scott

I'm having the exact same problem with a 97 5.2L 4x4 sport. I found two vac lines that had pulled off the A/C unit by the blower motor. I've attached one back but can't figure out where the other one goes. One is a dark green line with a 90 degree elbow that attaches to the valve on by the blower motor and the other is a light green line with a butt connecter joint on it. The light green one is the one I can't figure out.

fishbone the light-green vac line is for the recirc door actuator this line is to close the door and the dark-green vac line is to open it. you found the right spot for the dark-green line. the fitting is above the vacuum half of the actuator where the rod comes out of the actuator put your hand up there and you should feel the nipple sticking out
