I have a 2000 QC 4x4, and I had these recalls so far. The seat belt anchors are not torqued to spec, rear axle vent tube problem, and the clockspring needed replaced. There may have been something else, but I can't remember anything. I have had other problems that are more serious than this, however. Crank seal was leaking, and is leaking again after being replaced, R/F ball joint went bad in 15,000 miles, transmission hits rev limiter between 1-2 when floored, LT mirror defogger doesn't work, emergency brake handle broke, brake rotors warped in 12,000 miles, tons of drivetrain/ suspension pops and cracks, headliner pops, and dash makes noise. I currently have a lemon law letter sent in on this vehicle. The vehicle is good, the dealer is the problem. Vehicles are not lemons, dealers are!!!! The vehicle can be fixed.

2000 QC Sport Plus 4x4 5.9L 3.92LS, every factory option

Homemade 4" cold-air induction
Baffled removed from air hat
K&N air filter
Mobil 1 and Purolator
Perma-Cool auxiliary oil cooler
Map sensor mod
adjusted TPS from .568 to .764

I do agree, I've known people get alot of miles out of a Chevy and someone else was "screwed". It all depends too, when the vehicle was made..hopefully my husbands was a "Wednesday" truck!
Thanks for replying. And good luck!

Hey Troy, you must have got the bad end of the production line or something.
What plant was your Dak made at?? Mine hasn't had any real problems. '00 Club Cab. Made in Michigan I think. The stupid passenger rear seat release latch keeps breaking. I think the dealership tightens the screws too tight. Also, the factory didn't connect the rocker box breather hose to the intake. So I drove around with it disconnected for at least 2000 miles. Still no functional problems to date. Got 24,000 miles on it now.

Well, my clockspring broke 2 weeks after I had the truck with 350 miles on it, the transmission is still "chattering" mostly when it is cold. It really did it bad today since it was 19 degrees. The idle has gotten rougher as all magnums do as the throttle body gets gummed up. Both front fog lamps have cracked from heat, not rocks and the CD player won't eject cd's when it is cold. all four shocks were shot at 8500 miles and were replaced with rancho rsx's by me. It rides rougher but much more controlled. No runs, drips or leaks....

I was told that there was a new flash of the computer that was supposed to come out but I think that was for the 4.7's. My 5.9 runs strong and I have raced and blew away a Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor. The guy tried hard but his girlfriend was laughing her ass off since he got beat by a 5000 lb 4x4 pickup.

I have the extended warranty so I am trying my damnedest to grenade the tranny and get it replaced. I am guessing that is shouldn't last too much longer. 19k miles.

2000 Black QC 4x4 5.9

I have a 2000 Dakota. 4.7.

The rotors and drums warped. They were replaced, as well as all the pads.

Now I have squeeling from the front end, as the whole break assembly is banging around and riding on the hub of the rotors. There is a little spring that is rubbing and causing the noise. But the break system is clunking.

They also crossthreaded one of the lugnuts. Of course they didn't do it. Apparently I did it with my hand tools when I took the wheel off to figure out what the noise was all about.

It's going back into the shop this week. What fun.

Oh.. what else,,, the bed was put on crooked. "But it's only off about an inch."

And the passenger door lock is buzzing when it activates.

My trans went at ~20,000.

I love the truck. Unfortunately the dealer and the Shop is a pain in the neck.

Good Luck!
"Doc"

How many mi. when you got the rotors and the DRUMS replaced? Wow, never warped a drum before. Man those things must suck. Sounds like I'm in for a good time.

Had my old S-10 in the shop many a time also. Maybe the 7/75 warranty I got was not such a bad idea?!

I have 26,000 miles on our '01 Quad and teh rotors and brakes are just fine. Haven't had a single problem with the truck.

I rotate my own tires, though, using the factory supplied lug wrench. I use a palm wrench to torque the lug nuts evenly... Pressure on the palm technique. I also snug them all down in the pattern given in the manual, doing each a little at a time, rather than all at once.

At 12,000 miles replaced front rotors
recall for front pinon bolts was down also
replaced shocks in October with Monroe Reflex stiffer and firmer then stock had 3inch exhaust and two stage flowmaster installed last spring
(custom job through a local exhuast place) I get 20 miles to the gallon if I keep at around 2000rpm I love it over all my small blocks that I have owned with the exception of the '68 Plymouth Sattelight Convertable, hell of a lot faster then my Cuda ever was can haul more too. I drive 60 miles round trip to work (freeway) never have had a problem

4.7L is a SOHC, one cam for each bank of (4) cylinders, (2) cams total. DOHC would have (4) cams.

I work for an automotive supplier of engine components and we test engines here as well. DC came in a few years ago scoping around a a motor from a competitor, and I believe patterned theirs against it. Can you guess which one? Don't strain your brain, just think "Mustang".

suspention and body lift
IP: Logged

Message:
I would like to put larger tires (33's to 35's) on my 2000 Quad 4x4. I can only fine the 3 in from Rancho. Has any one combined a body and suspension lift? Would you recomend it? And is it possible to put 35's with just the suspension lift and triming on the fenders. And with 33's, would any triming be required without a lift?

Thanks

Rick

2000 slt. bought it at 24,000 ran rough, brought it back to the dealership at 26,000. Open up the engine, full of sludge!! couldn't see anything in there!! was that bad. Put in a new block, cleaned everything up. 34,000 still doesn't run right. Uses a quart of oil every 500 miles. I take very good care of the truck. Never hot rod with it. Use it for pulling the boat mostly. What do you think the problem is know?

i own a 2000 dakota slt 4x4 with the 4.7, automatic tranny.the only problems i've had are:
vent tube for tranny had to be shortened (recall),
ias sensor went bad, trans output speed sensor went bad last week. both upper ball joints are wasted. rack and pinion went out, but other than that regarding how i drive it(very rough like a truck should be especially a 4x4) the truck has been great. i have over 82000 on it and still running as strong as the day i bought it new.

Has anyone had trouble with the air conditioning pump in a 2000QC 4.7? Replaced ball joints last week at 70,000 miles, and can't get an air conditioning pump. Everything is on back order including the ball joints. I had to buy the whole frame for an extra $130.00.
Just wondering about the air conditioner and if there is any news about a recall on that.

Guys...guys...guys...stop asking each other if there are recalls on your truck. Recalls are vehicle specific, not always all throughout a year model. So just because someone else's 2000 Dak has a recall on it, does not mean yours does also. Ask the dealer, check out NHTSA website, but don't ask each other. That's like saying "Hey, my wife is pregnant" and everyone else with a wife the same age as your saying "Oh, mine must be pregnant also". Sounds silly when put this way, eh?
