I too have a 1998 Dakota, (Black) The same type of clear coat is litteraly bubbling off the truck all over the place.

I have just finnished paying off this truck only to have to turn around and now pay for a new paint job is beyond stupid. Well, looks like I will go back to Jap trucks, as they obviously know how to paint their vehicles, unlike the Dodge boys, who must be sitting around the paint shop sniffing the stuff thats suposed to go on our vehicles!!

Why is it that the American people have to bear the brunt of sh*Tty craftsmanship, then wonder why jobs are leaving this country to go to forign or 3rd world countrys to to a good job?

American Quality is turning into pure crap.

My paint on my 92 started peeling in the 2nd year. In the 3rd year Earnhardt Dodge repainted, I paid 754.00 for a total repaint on a truck I still had payments on. They (Dodge) knew they had a problem but would not have the integrity to tell owners of the paint problem. We have had Dodges in our family continously since the late forties till 1992 and my truck is the ONLY ONE to lose paint. This is in Az and Nm. White ,black ,red, bronze, turqoise, green. Only the red dakota. Now the repaint started coming off in mid 2001. NO more Dodges for me, except maybe an old Challenger or a Barracuda. Brand loyal for over fifty years means nothing to Gov bailed out Chysler.
